Howard County Applications & Research Lab Partnership

In May, 2014, the Sunrise Rotary Club of Ellicott City, recognizing the impending need for people to work in the field of geriatrics, brokered an agreement among the Lorien Health Systems, Howard Community College and the Howard County Public School System’s Applications and Research Lab (ARL).

The Agreement calls for Lorien Health Systems to place up to 30 students from the ARL’s Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in clinical internships in Lorien’s various Howard County health care facilities.

The Howard Community College (HCC)will provide some nursing staff supervision over clinical training.  In addition, HCC will make available the Paul R. Willging Scholarship to those eligible Howard County Public School System students who intend to pursue a career in either managerial or service delivery positions in the field of aging related services.
